Floral Ramble: Early March.
A new weekly floral Ramble from the cottage to dust off the Substack cobwebs...
Oh ma gaaad forgive me, time has gotten the best of me (as usual).
With the welcome shift in weather patterns i’ve been spending most of my time back outside getting on top of a plethora of gardening tasks. These more temperate conditions have really breathed life back into the soil and true signs of spring are starting to emerge.
I can feel quite discontented over winter after incredibly busy periods of work during high summer. Which feels like a ridiculous statement to make since I was ready to fall in my coffin once event season was over last year. But now I’m very well rested and eager to have a year focused mainly on growing and fundraising for the infrastructure needed to cultivate the field, which I spoke about in my previous post.
Since that was written i’ve had various conversations, which have really uplifted my view of the coming months, motivating me to keep taking steps towards my main objectives, reconnecting with this unique plot of land. Feeling suitably optimistic once again that my goal of having the deer fence up by the end of the year will absolutely be met. No ifs or buts. In-fact i’ve already made a deal with a local farmer who is coming out late September to get the deed done!
One mighty big step forward when it comes to farming more cut flowers for you in 2026.
I’ll be releasing at the start of April a small programme of plants sales that’ll either be available locally to purchase or directly from the potting yard here at Honour Farm. I’m also intrigued to know whether a little online plant shop could work for our wider audience of customers who are dispersed across the country - thoughts? I’m happy to get my packing hat on if you’d like to see some of our perennials in your own gardens this summer and beyond for some full circle, growing goodness.
This past fortnight has also been spent gearing up for this years weddings, the first location install being in just a couple of weeks a little further north at Middleton Lodge. A beautiful location to kick start the season of love and abundant blooms. I’ve also been working on a website refresh that’ll hopefully go live very soon - just doing some final tinkering.
Now, I will in earnest try to publish more regularly on here. When I logged in this evening I had 16 drafts of practically fully written pieces. All perfectly good, but my unhelpful internal dialogue has been sabotaging any recent attempts to hit post. I had a little ponder on this earlier and I’m definitely going through a stage in life where i’m finding sharing my life online much more challenging than I did in my 20’s (anyone else?). But i’m going to work on confronting why that might be and get back in my Substack stride asap.
We’re heading down to North Norfolk in a couple of days for a short break! So i’ll be back the following week with more life and garden updates.

Loved seeing this pop into my inbox this week and finally sitting down to do a bit of catch up. I can so relate to the feeling of sharing a little more tentatively(?) online these days. I turned forty last December and whilst I'll always love the connection and like-minded people i have found through an online community, i do think about it different these days and definitely don't share quite as much as i used to.
I would love to buy some plants! Unless that seems utterly impossible. Would be lovely to support you in a different way and, to spread some of your magical plants/bloom a little more north! Enjoy your break xxxx
